Oh, it has a certain ring about it... Chateau Adloyada...
One of the unexpected discoveries about my new garden is that there are three grapevines, with crops all currently looking much better than I'd expect a grape harvest in Finchley to be at this point in September.
My daughter says they taste quite sweet, though they're not yet fully black.
I always wanted to grow grape vines, but never got round to establishing any before. I used to make wines from sloes and blackberries when I had my country cottage in Berkshire. But to be realistic, there's hardly enough of a harvest here to produce an egg-cupful of wine.
The garden I've got here now is actually bigger than the one in my last house, but it's very neglected and overgrown, and I don't have the time it needs to make the most of it.
I'm putting my main planning energies into turning the deck outside my living room window into a base to build a succah onto....
And this is what I see when I walk out of my front door..
Lovely. Our grapes are green (and taking over -- we're going to have to cut them back).

Looks like the plans for expanding this years vintage will have to be placed on hold.
What are sloes?
Arr.. google reveals.
Here's a Sloe recipe you could use for the 'new' deck out the back.
